Far less attention has been paid to other commodities that have less to do with energy and everything to do with feeding hundreds of millions of people all around the world. Russia and Ukraine are both powerhouse producers and exporters of basic food staples — wheat, barley, corn and sunflower oil in particular. Taken together, the two countries have accounted for roughly 25 percent of exports of those staples to the rest of the world. ...”
