In 1962, Tambellini was founding member of the counter-culture group called 'Group Center' which worked to find creative ways of displaying non-mainstream work. Other founding members include Ron Hahne, Elsa Tambellini, Don Snyder, and Ben Morea. Notable members who came on board later were Jackie Cassen and Peter Martinez. A major group highlighting the intermedia genre, 'Group Center' combined poetry, photography, choreography and film-making."
