"My paintings are life paintings. They are painted outdoors and on location. I observe the sun and weather move over the subject. I paint with an urgency to capture these passing moments. I encounter the people who frequent the site. I learn anecdotal stories about it. While working, I am fully immersed in my subject. It's exciting to get to know a foreign city or place through the act of pleinair painting. And that was the case for me in Santa Fe."
