New York Subway (1984)

"The New York Subway in 1984 was a living canvas of urban expression. Covered in vibrant graffiti tags, the subway cars told the story of a city grappling with creativity and chaos. Riders from all walks of life from businesspeople to students and street performers — crammed together, lost in their own thoughts or entranced by the ever-present hum of the tracks. Delays were common, but New Yorkers had adapted, using the time to read newspapers, listen to Walkmans, or simply people-watch. With crime at its peak, there was an air of caution, but the subway remained an essential lifeline for the city’s working class, linking neighborhoods from the Bronx to Brooklyn. It was gritty, unpredictable, and quintessentially New York. Photo By : Frank Horvat."
