Djamil is a collection of previously unreleased cuts (unreleased in France, anyway) from 1984 and 1985. On one level, you know what to expect. But most of the numbers here are less synthesized, more straightforward -- and at the same time quite rich, with excellent horns as well as the usual very individual singing."
